Kanoni Corfu
About Kanoni Corfu
Kanoni Corfu is not a traditional resort town but rather a historic, picturesque peninsula just beyond Corfu Town, known for offering one of Greece’s most famous postcard views. Calm, elegant, and full of charm, it’s a beloved local neighbourhood and a definite must-see for anyone visiting Corfu.
Kanoni, whose name comes from the Greek word for “cannon,” traces its title back to the French artillery installed here in 1798—one of which still stands proudly in the square beside the cafés. From this viewpoint, visitors are treated to a breathtaking panorama of the Vlacherna Monastery, a charming whitewashed chapel perched on a narrow causeway, framed perfectly by the legendary Pontikonisi (Mouse Island). Adding to its unique appeal, Kanoni Corfu sits close to Corfu Airport, offering the surprising thrill of watching planes pass by very low as they takeoff and landing.

The beach is naturally divided into two sections just before the jetty.
The first section, which you reach as you walk down from the harbour, has a rocky shoreline with a mix of shingles and sand. It’s simple, quiet, and ideal if you prefer a more natural setting.
Beyond the jetty lies the more organised part of the beach, maintained by the Corfu Holiday Palace hotel. Here, both the shore and the seabed are sandy with a gentle slope, keeping the water shallow for the first few meters. This is also where you’ll find Brachera Beach Bar, offering food, drinks, and rentals for umbrellas and sun loungers. If you prefer to go without equipment, there’s plenty of space to lay your towel on the sand.
How to Get There
- From Kanoni Harbor: Walk behind Flisvos restaurant and continue along the narrow shoreline. Depending on the tide, you may need to get your feet wet.
- From Corfu Holiday Palace: Ask for directions to Brachera Beach Bar and take either the funicular or the steps from the pool level down to the beach.
The true highlight of Kanoni Corfu Beach holiday is the view. As you swim, you can gaze out toward the sparkling sea, with the Vlacherna Monastery and the iconic Pontikonisi (Mouse Island) creating one of Corfu’s most unforgettable backdrops.
