Other Ways to get to Varypatades Corfu
There are a few different ways to get from Corfu Airport to Varypatades, each with its own trade-offs. Here’s an honest breakdown of every option so you can choose what works best for you.
🚌 Public Bus
The cheapest way to reach Varypatades, though it takes some patience. There is no direct bus from Corfu Airport to Varypatades village, you need to take Blue Bus 15 into Corfu Town first, then pick up a connecting service (Blue Bus 18) heading south. Services are infrequent, don’t run late in the evening or on Sunday, and are not well-suited to travelling with luggage. Budget at least 2–3 hours for the full journey with connections, and check the blue bus timetable before you travel, as schedules change seasonally.
One important thing to note: the bus does not enter the village itself. The roads through Varypatades are narrow and not passable for larger vehicles, so the bus stops at the entrance to the village, next to a large open parking area. From there it’s a short walk in on foot. If you have heavy luggage this is worth keeping in mind.
Best for: Budget travellers with minimal luggage, plenty of time, and who don’t mind the walk from the village entrance.

🚕 Airport Taxi
Corfu Airport has a taxi rank just outside the arrivals hall. Taxis are generally quick, the journey time to Varypatades is similar to a private transfer at around 20 minutes (if there is no traffic). During peak summer months, there can be a wait at the rank, particularly when several flights land close together or cruise ships have arrived at the port.
A couple of things worth knowing before you get in: always agree the price before the journey starts, and be aware that fares may be higher at night or during peak season. This is normal practice in Greece and is governed by official tariff zones, but it’s still worth confirming upfront so there are no surprises when you arrive.
Just like a pre-booked private transfer, an airport taxi will take you all the way to your accommodation door (if possible), but bear in mind the village roads are very narrow. Most drivers know the village well, but it’s worth having your exact address ready.
Best for: Travellers who haven’t booked in advance and are happy to wait at the rank during busy periods.
🚙 Hire Car
Picking up a hire car at Corfu Airport is a popular choice and works well if you’re planning to explore the island during your stay. All the major hire car companies have desks inside the arrivals hall, so you can collect your car immediately after landing. A number of smaller local companies also operate from just outside the airport and tend to offer more competitive rates, though they usually require a short shuttle or brief walk to collect the vehicle. Book in advance during summer months as availability gets tight, particularly for smaller cars.
However, there is an important practical consideration if you’re renting a car and staying in Varypatades: parking inside the village is very limited. The roads are narrow,as is typical of traditional Greek villages, and parking within the village itself carries a real risk of your car getting scratched by passing traffic. Not ideal for a hire car you’re responsible for.

The good news is that the large open parking area at the village entrance is free and well-suited for leaving a hire car safely. You would then walk into the village from there. It’s also worth choosing a smaller car over a large SUV for navigating the approach roads. Fill up at one of the many petrol stations on the way, as there is no petrol station in Varypatades itself.
Best for: Those planning to explore the island independently, families who need the flexibility, or anyone staying a week or more. Park at the village entrance and walk in.
🚐 Shared Transfer
Shared transfers — where several groups travelling to the same destination share a vehicle and split the cost, are not available for Varypatades. The village is a quiet, traditional settlement rather than a large resort, and there simply isn’t the volume of arrivals to make shared services viable for this destination.
🚗 Private Transfer
The most straightforward and stress-free option for reaching Varypatades. Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name board, monitors your flight so delays are never a problem, and takes you directly to your accommodation, no waiting at a rank, no stops along the way.
The price is fixed and agreed upfront, so you know exactly what you’re paying before you travel. Your driver will navigate the village roads and get as close to your door as possible, and can advise on parking if you’re picking up a hire car separately on another day.
For most groups of 2 or more, a private transfer works out comparable in cost to a taxi — without the uncertainty of waiting or negotiating a price after a long flight.
